Tajkira Begum who started learning kantha embroidery from her mother and grandmother since she was 9 has stood out through her exquisite kantha work and has evolved as a confident entrepreneur. Being involved with this craft for the past 2 decades, not only she travelled all around India but also across India like Lithuania, Paris, Japan, China, France, Germany and Sweden. Presently there are more than 200 women working under her.

Najma Sultana

Najma Sultana joined hands with her mother and maternal aunt, and started learning the kantha stitch when she was 10. She almost visited all the states of India and took part in different exhibitions. She makes beautiful scarves and stoles

Amina Yasmin started learning this form of embroidery from her mother at the age of 10. She is being called for various workshops and she also took part in different exhibitions in different parts of India.

Aslima Bibi

Aslima Bibi is a resident of Agortore village of Nanoor block; Birbhum. She is weaving Kantha for over 16 years. She is skilled in making intricate designs over various items such as – stole, dupatta, saree, cushion covers, bed covers,boutique bags, churidar etc. Aslima has participated in fairs around Kolkata, Goa, Bankura and Berhampore. She was awarded 2nd by DRDC. Along with her own works and participating in fairs, Aslima has been a trainer for many workshops in Goa, Burdwan and Kolkata.

Amina Bibi

Amina Bibi is a resident of Nanoor village of Nanoor block; Birbhum weaving Kantha for 17 years. She is skilled in making intricate designs over various items. She has participated in Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai. She has received Kamala Devi Award and also received certificate from Gurusadaya Museum. Along with her own works and participating in fairs, Amina has been a trainer for many workshops.

Majeda Khatun is a resident of Gobdihi village of Nanoor block; Birbhum weaving Kantha for 10 years. Majeda is skilled in making intricate geometric designs over various items. Along with her own works, Ajiya has trained other artists in many workshops. Majeda has visited in Goa and Kolkata fairs.

Minufa Yasmin

Minufa Yasmin is a resident of Bishnupur village of Ausgram; Purba Bardhaman. Minufa has learnt the craft from her sister in-law. She is weaving Kantha for over 16 years. She is skilled in various Kantha stitches like – Run, Hem, fly stitch, cross, katihari and other knots. Minufa Yasmin has participated in fairs conducted in Kolkata City Center-II, Khadi Mela, Poush Mela and others around Bardhaman and Kolkata.
