Tajkira Begum who started learning kantha embroidery from her mother and grandmother since she was 9 has stood out through her exquisite kantha work and has evolved as a confident entrepreneur. Being involved with this craft for the past 2 decades, not only she travelled all around India but also across India like Lithuania, Paris, Japan, China, France, Germany and Sweden. Presently there are more than 200 women working under her.

Najma Sultana joined hands with her mother and maternal aunt, and started learning the kantha stitch when she was 10. She almost visited all the states of India and took part in different exhibitions. She makes beautiful scarves and stoles

Nurjahan Khatun

Nurjahan Khatun is a resident of Agortore village of Nanoor block; Birbhum. She is weaving Kantha for over 16 years. She is skilled in making intricate designs over various items such as – stole, dupatta, saree, cushion covers, bed covers and other utility products. Nurjahan has participated in fairs around Shantiniketan and other areas. Along with her own works and participating in fairs, Nurjahan has been a trainer for many basic training workshops.

Anjila Khatun

Anjila Khatun is a resident of Baliguni village of Nanoor block; Birbhum weaving Kantha for over 14 years. She is skilled in making intricate designs over various items. Anjila has participated in fairs around Kolkata, Goa, Gwalior, Mumbai, Asansol and Berhampore. She was awarded 2nd by DRDC. Along with her own works and participating in fairs, Anjila has been a trainer for many workshops in Burdwan.
