Gautam Baishya is a new generation bamboo craftsperson who has mastered the craft. He learnt the craft from his father, Late Gopal Baishya. Gautam now trains crafts persons under DIC programmes held across North Bengal. He carves whole bamboo poles, makes furniture of bamboo, designs Durga Puja pandals and works in the interior decoration sector. He has won the District Award in 2004-05, 2008-09 and 2013-14. He has participated in fairs all across West Bengal.

Manik Rabi Das

Manik Rabidas is a resident of Alampur village in Gajole block of Malda district. He has won the District Award 5 times and the State Award thrice. An ace craftsman he has made a name for himself. Manik makes winnows, baskets and decorative items like flower vase, pen stands and he also specializes in jewellery. Rabidas works as a master trainer in the states of West Bengal, Tripura, Assam, UP, Uttarakhand and Haryana. He has participated in fairs in Kolkata, Delhi and Tripura.

Manoranjan Mondal

Manoranjan Mondal is a resident of Sarkarpara in Malda district and has been working as a bamboo craftsman since 2007. He has learnt the craft from his wife Durga Mondal who has been in this craft for long. He makes tradtional items like winnows, baskets and decorative items like flower vase, pen stands, lampshades etc. He has participated in fairs in Goa, Kerala, Chandigarh, Delhi, Siliguri and Asansol. Manoranjan has also participated in the international fair at Lithuania in 2017.

Anjali Mahali

Anjali Mahali is a resident of Gazol in Malda district. She has been practising basketry for the last 20 years. She has learnt the craft traditionally from her father Puran Mahali. Anjali is specialised in making home décor items ranging from baskets, boxes, lampshades and other show pieces. She has participated in fair and exhibitions around – Kolkata, Siliguri, Medinipur and Berhampore. Anjali Mahali has received Malda district award in 2005.

Sujata Mondol

Sujata Mondol is a resident of Gazol in Malda district. She has been practising basketry for the last 20 years. She has learnt the craft from her mother In-law Prova Mondol. Sujata is specialised in making home décor items ranging from baskets, pen stand, lampshades, and other show pieces. She has participated in fair and exhibitions around – Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, Asansol and Haldia.

Minati Das

Minati Das a resident of Raiganj, and has been practising bamboo basketry since childhood. She has learnt the craft which is inherent in her family. She makes traditional items like winnows and baskets as well as decorative items like table lamps, flower vase, flower baskets etc. She is a master trainer of the Basketry craft and profive skill transmission to the next generation. Minati has participated in fairs in Kolkata, Siliguri, Goa and Kerala.
