Advanced training

Raibenshe is a folk art that has not only entertained people for ages, but also is is an ancient art form. The art form is practiced by 14 dance groups of Murshidabad, Bardhaman and Birbhum. Due to Covid pandemic most of the artists did not have shows and lacked practice. To energise the artists, and bring back their vitality and to take up new innovations in the artform,  a 7-day workshop was conducted from Aug 5-11, 2021, which was attended by 4 Raibenshe groups of Murshidabad district. 56 Raibenshe artists participated at Sathkahoniya, Tepantar theater village of Purba Bardhaman district.  Experts like Siddhartha Chakraborty (NSD graduate) and Suman Das (Theatre expert) conducted the training. They learnt the finer aspects of the art of balancing and vaults, techniques to perform with different types of musical beats.  Rectifying faults they have improved their skills. During these workshops the Gurus emphasised on individual postures as well as collective movements. The participating artists were of much appreciation of this initiative.

     

Advanced Workshop

1 advance training workshop took place on September 13-16, 2022. 124 participants were present in this workshop at Santakahonia village in Tepantar, Purba Bardhaman focused on improving the facial and bodily expressions of the performers, body movement, dance coordination, composition, choreography and the costumes. The flow of the workshops consisted of the following steps such as demonstration of the performance by the participants, participatory discussions led by the Experts, detailed analysis of the gaps pointed out by the Experts, practice by the participants and final performance by the next generation Raibeshe artists.
