Born in Bankura, Arpita has followed her father & legendary Jhumur singer Subhash Chakraborty’s footsteps and inherited a musician’s discipline from him. She earned her M-Muse (Masters in Music) in Folk music from Rabindra Bharati University in Kolkata and went on to do Ph.D on Jhumur traditions of Bengal.

Sunil Pal of Ranibandh in Bankura is a popular Jhumur artist who started learning music from a very young age. He went on to train under two legendary singers — Salabat Mahato and Dhirendranath Sardar. Sunil has performed not only across West Bengal but also in cities like Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Dehradun, Ranchi, Jamshedpur and Bhubaneswar. He also teaches the rich tradition of Jhumur to young artists.
