He has learnt under the tutelage of Nimai Ray and later under the guidance of Bhajan Das Bairagya, an eminent Baul artist.He also plays the folk instrument, Dotara. He has showcased his talent all over West Bengal, Assam, Delhi and Hazaribagh and collaborated with Santiago Cordoba of Argentina.

Kangal Khyapa, born in Joydev near Santiniketan in Birbhum district, is probably one of the finest Dotara players of India. Kangal started playing musical instruments at the age of seven. His inspiration and guide was his father, eminent Baul singer Lt.Tarak Khyapa. Kangal is also a Baul singer having high competence in playing other folk instruments, such as Khamak, Ektara, Dugi, Tabla, Khol, etc. He has performed in many places across India, including Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, Pune,Assam, Tatanagar and Siliguri. He performed at the Sur Jahan World Peace Music Festival in Kolkata and Goa and also in different music festivals in Sweden Hungary and London.

Nityapriya Mandal

Nityapriya was born in 1995 and started learning music at the age of 10 from her father Iswar Birendranath Bala. Presently she is learning from her husband Sujay Mondal. Nityapriya has collaborated with Oriental Mood Trio from Denmark. She had performed throughout West Bengal and also in Assam.

Pradyut Bala hails from a family of Hindustani Classical singers. He was initiated into classical music at the tender age of nine and gained proficiency over the years. He later developed an intense attraction towards Baul music and philosophy and went on to become a disciple of Harekrishna Das Baul. A resident of Ilambazar in Birbhum district of West Bengal, Prodyut has performed at various festivals in West Bengal and also in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh.

Gobinda Das Bairagya learnt the finer details of Baul music as a young child at the feet of his father, Shyam Sundar Das, himself an accomplished performer. Hailing from a family of traditional Bauls, young Gobinda went on to become a disciple of Gobinda Das Goswami and practised Baul philosophy and lifestyle under his tutelage. He has performed in several festivals in rural West Bengal, Kolkata as well as in Bhutan, Maharashtra (Mumbai) and Andaman. He is a much-loved regular at Joydeb Mela and Poush Mela of Birbhum. Arjun Khyapa of Goas, Nadia has been performing since the mid-1990s and is known for his melodious baritone voice. He has performed across India and mesmerized audiences in London (London Ananda Utsav 2010) and other cities in Europe. His solo album ‘Arjuner Gaan’ is a very popular one. Girish Mandal also known as Girish Khyapa, is an eminent Baul singer from Bardhaman district in West Bengal. He also plays various traditional instruments, including Dotara and Ektara. He has performed and conducted workshops across India. Girish performed at the International De Folklore De Noyon Festival in France and Transform-Trondheim World Music Festival in Norway in 2017. He also participated in a cultural exchange program with Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage in the United States and visited Washington D.C. as part of the initiative in 2018. There he attended the Smithsonian Folklife Festival 2018 and performed at the Library of Congress and Freer Sackler Gallery.
