Under the aegis of RCCH II, three different clusters have been taken up for intervention. While the Kunoor cluster where appreciable work was done during 2016-19 has been taken up, 2 new clusters are also included namely Subhasganj in Uttar Dinajpur and Kakutiya in Birbhum. While interacting with the artists and experts it was found out that there are requirements of making the products more thinner, enhancing the strength but making it less brittle. Thus series of workshops are being taken up with the community to improve the fineness of clay. Experts in pottery, ceramic was involved. The artists initially learned at the Pottery studio in Kolkata and then the experts are conducting series of workshops at the villages so that they learn the process of making finer clay, product development with finer clay and developing products with composite material. They have also received technical training necessary to upgrade their production process. Trainings have also been disseminated to reinforce the uniqueness of Indian designs among the potters. Training on product diversification, business strategy, communication, digital and financial skills have also been given to the potters to improve their entrepreneurial strategizing capacities, financial planning, market performance and usage of the digital medium to attract socio-economic benefits for themselves.
