The tribal dance practiced in Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal is one of the most vibrant dance forms. It is generally performed by both the men and women from the ST community. They move to the beats of music to celebrate the glory of nature, convey a message and offer prayers to the presiding deity of their tribe through a dance.
Nine workshops were held with 1376 artists, 104 groups at Tepantar from May 9 - Jun 15, 2022 to enhance the dancing skills of the artists and to encourage young practitioners to learn the art form and skill up their repertoire.
