Daksha-Crafting Voices

We are delighted to share the incredible highlights of Daksha - Crafting Voices, a remarkable event that took place over 6 days. The inauguration on 20th June marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey.
On 21st June, we curated an engaging lineup of panel discussions on "Craft and Hospitality" from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm, and on 23rd June, we had an insightful conversation on "Crafts for Gennext" from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. These discussions brought together esteemed panelists who shared their unique perspectives, inspiring future generations to appreciate and preserve traditional crafts.
The panelists for the "Craft and Hospitality" discussion included Sirla Chatterjee, Founder of Baro Market; Darshan Dudhoria, Owner and Director of Bari Kothi Heritage Hotel; Partho Kar, Chief Consultant of Biswa Bangla; Raj Gope, Design Lead at Reliance Retail Ltd; Samiran Banik, Principal & Design Director of Indecorus and Member of ABID; and Sunil Kumar, General Manager of JW Marriott. Whereas the panelists for "Crafts for Gennext" included Dr. Vishal Chandrakant Bhand, Associate Professor of Silpa Sadana at Viswa Bharati University; Mitul Das, CEO and Strategy Head of UrsDigitally; Meghna Nayak, Founder of LataSita; Dr. Sreenanda Palit, Fashion Design Researcher; and Ayan Dutta, Director of Natural Fibre.
The venue was buzzing with excitement as craft enthusiasts flocked to witness the remarkable display of artistry. Throughout the day, the harmonious melodies of the flute, soul-stirring Baul songs, and enchanting Pater Gaan filled the air, mesmerizing our visitors.
The event also witnessed the grand launch of a movie on Chadar Badar, an extraordinary indigenous tribal puppetry. The talented Chadar Badar artists from Bardhaman districts showcased their mesmerizing performances, adding a touch of magic to the event.
Over the course of 6 days, we showcased a magnificent display of traditional handicrafts infused with contemporary styling. The exhibition hall was filled with art enthusiasts from all walks of life, creating an incredible atmosphere every single day. Alongside the exquisite crafts, our visitors enjoyed captivating performances of Baul songs, Pater Gaan, Rabha Song and Dance, and Chadar Badar, representing the rich cultural heritage of West Bengal.
