CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOPS

Basic Workshop

9 basic skill-building workshops have been organised between January 2017 to July 2017 and in April 2018 at Nimdih in Purulia, Tepantar in Bardhaman, Ranibandh and Sarenga in Bankura and Gosaba (Pakhiralay) in South 24 Parganas. 989 participants got the opportunity to learn and enhance their performing skill from the distinguished Gurus and trainers of Jhumur. Out of the 9 Basic workshops, 6 workshops were organized for Jhumur songs and 3 were of Jhumur dance. 

Another round of two basic skill-building workshops were organized in Pakhiralay, Gosaba from 22nd July 2019 to 31st July 2019. In these two workshops, 160 participants from 20 groups participated. These workshops aimed to improve the team performance of the participating group, qualitative improvement of the singers and the musicians and skill-building of the dancers and make them more synchronized.

      

 

Advanced Workshop

4 advanced skill-building workshops have been organized between March 2017 to July 2017 in Nimdih in Purulia, Gosaba Pakhiralay in South 24 Parganas and Tepantar in Bardhaman. 5 days Jhumur dance workshop was organised between April 22-26, 2018 at Pakhiralay, South 24 Parganas. Eminent dance practitioner and researcher Madhumita Paul along with Naren Hansda of Purulia, a very experienced Jhumur dancer trained the artists. Till date, total 1294 artists have been trained through a capacity building workshop where they have learnt new dance steps and to synchronize the new steps with their usual ones while dancing in groups. They also learned to present their usual dancing style in a more attractive way by including the new steps.

                      

 

Communication Skill, Digital Awareness and Financial Literacy Workshop

Workshops with 37 Jhumur artists in South 24 Parganas (7th June 2019) and 47 Jhumur artists in Bankura (24th June 2019) were organised at Pakhiralay, Gosaba and  Ranibandh, Bankura respectively to make them aware of various digital payment options. Financial Literacy and Improved Communication Skill were also the focused areas of these workshops. The participating artisans were very much enthusiastic and learned how to use social media platforms to promote their art form.

     

 

Performances at  Events & Festivals

The Jhumur dancers to show their colourful, vibrant dance forms went to various festivals in Kolkata like Biswa Bangla Haat in November 2017, ICCR Kolkata, Surjahan 2018. They also went to Goa for Bengal Goa Folk Mela.
