Three-day Chau Mask festival at Charida in Purulia begins on December 14

This Village Festival of Charida is a celebration of the age-old craft of Chau Mask making. Each house of Charida is actually a studio where you can find the artists busy in making some beautiful pieces of art. Chau Mask has also received the Geographical Indication (G.I.) status. Visit Charida and experience its pastoral beauty, simple life and enriched cultural heritage. The Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises & Textiles (MSME&T), Govt. of West Bengal in association with UNESCO has developed this place as a Rural Craft Hub. West Bengal Khadi & Village Industries Board (WBKVIB) has developed a folk art centre along wih community museum where you will see different kinds of masks along with their making process. WBKVIB has extended its support towards organising the Mela with the Mask artists of  Charida.  
 
How to reach: You can take a train from Howrah station to Barabhum (Balarampur) which is the nearest railway station. From Balarampur it takes about 45 minutes to reach Charida in a car or bus.
