Basic Workshop

A basic skill building workshop was organized between April 16 to 20, 2018 at Haatpara, Kunor, Uttar Dinajpur. Total of 4 participants attended the workshop and got the opportunity to learn new techniques to produce high-quality pottery products. Dhirendra Singh a graduate of NIFT Chennai participated as a trainer.

Advanced Workshops

Three skill-building workshops (23.02.19 – 04.03.19 and 09.05.19 – 18.05.19 and 05.07.19-14.07.19) at Kunoor, Uttar Dinajpur were organized to reinforce the uniqueness of Indian designs. 8 artisans participated in these workshops. The workshop of pottery involves wedging the clay with the feet of the potter, systematically stamping in lines up and down the clay until the potter is satisfied that the clay is thoroughly mixed. The main objective was to bring out the best amongst the artisans, in order to cause promising sustainability, in the absence of the mentors, in the future. Several design motifs were taken from the artisan’s imagination, Designer‘s collection & then incorporated into a design. These way things got synchronized in a better way & varied segments got segregated.



Communication Skill, Digital Awareness and Financial Literacy Workshop

A workshop with 18 Pottery artisans of Uttar Dinajpur was organised at Kunoor on 11th June 2019 to make them aware of various digital payment options. Financial Literacy and Improved Communication Skill were also the focused areas of these workshops. The participating artisans were very much enthusiastic and learned how to use social media platforms to promote their craft.



Participation at Events & Festivals

The artisans of pottery travelled to various festivals and they were – Bengal Hues, ICCR, Surjahan 2017 and 2018, HSBC Helping Hand and Top Cat all being in Kolkata. They went to Banglarore too for Durga Puja 2017.
